  • Jewish chaplain on base:
    Lt Michael Bram

  • Services:
  • Friday 1900 at Southside Chapel. Call chaplain or lay leader for directions.

  • Food:
    • Kosher Shopping:
    • The base commissary sells Kosher chicken.  No other Kosher shopping in area.  We travel to Strasbourg, France for Kosher shopping.  It is about 50 minutes away.

  • Other Notes: Frankfurt has a Kosher Restaurant attached to its main temple near down town area.  There is also a Kosher Butcher shop providing support to the jewish community.  I have relatives in Frankfurt and visit often for simchas.  They also have a Jewish Museum along the Main.  There are also some historical Jewish sites of interest.

Rabbi (Capt) Michael Bram is PCSing at the end of May 11. Rabbi Gary Davidson will take his place in June. TSgt York has been gone for years. There is currently no lay leader.

Services are currently at 1800 in the winter and 1900 in the summer, but that may change with the new Rabbi.

The Commissary now carries many more kosher items, grape juice, hamburger patties, frozen gefilte fish loaf, American & shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheese, pizza bagels, stuffed cabbage, turkey pot pies…..(there's more but you get the point) in addition to all the usual kosher products at any US grocery store.

Strasbourg & Frankfurt are each 90 min away. The meat at Frankfurt is excellent, but they are closed Sundays. The meat in Strasbourg is very good and they have a much wider selection of kosher products, and they are open Sundays.

1 Kosher restaurant in Frankfurt with a very nice Sunday lunch. 4 kosher restaurants in Strasbourg.

Thanks for the updates. I removed TSgt York's info and will update the rest next month. If you have new contact info for the new rabbi, please post it here when he arrives.
