The Army News Service
is reporting that Soldiers who have been involuntarily extended past their 12 month tour in Iraq or Kuwait are eligible for an extra $1000 per month.
The extra pay is actually made up of additional hardship pay and incentive pay. To be eligible for the bonus, soldiers must serve 12 consecutive months or 365 days out of a 15-month period in theater.
Extended Soldiers must sign a DA Form 4187, personnel action form, recognizing that their extension was involuntary. The signature is necessary because, by law, AIP must be based on a written agreement between the secretary of the Army and the Soldier.
Current units extended in Iraq include two brigade combat teams from the 1st Armored Division based in Germany, the 2nd Cavalry Regiment (Light) from Fort Polk, La., the 514th Maintenance Company from Fort Drum, N.Y., the 57th Air Ambulance Company from Fort Bragg, N.C., and the 98th Combat Stress Center Medical Team from Fort Lewis, Wash.
If you or a loved one is eligible for this bonus, contact your disbursing office right away and ensure that you get the money
you are entitled to!
