With the assistance of members of TheBrave listserv, Jews in Green will be sending a number of Channukah care packages to service members deployed to Afghanistan and Iraq.
While this is mostly a local effort here in Pensacola, we would be glad to take donations from donors outside the local area. If you are interested in sending packages yourself, we’d be happy to let you know the mailing addresses of where items are needed. For more information, please email or .
The deadline for money donations is October 23rd. You can mail a check or send payment via PayPal.
The deadline for us to receive packages or individual items is October 28th.

UPDATE: DC Area collection at Ft. Belvoir
The Fort Belvoir Jewish Youth group will be collecting the following items to send over to Jewish troops in Iraq and Afghanstan - please consider dropping off some of these items in the boxes provided in the chapel when you attend services. The collection will be on going until October 28th when the items need to be sent overseas in a timely manner so the troops receive the items during/before Hanukkah.
*Please take care to insure that all foods are kosher with hechsher (kosher certification) printed on the item so that those troops who maintain kashrut will not be left out.
**You can also include cards and anything else you think might be fun to receive!
The care packages will be sent to Jewish service men and women who act as Jewish lay leaders and points of contact. This will allow for the contents to be distributed among Jewish service members in their area. If there is someone in particular that you want a package to go to, let us know.
Im not the artistic type, but is it possible to maybe create a ad to put on different websites or perhaps creat a website just for a Channukah Care Packages Drive?
I don’t have the time to create a separate website for a package drive, but I think the idea of an ad that appears on other websites is a good idea. Were you volunteering to come up with something?
I just wanted to drop a quick comment and say THANK YOU!!! I’m the Jewish Layleader for Bagram Air Base, Afghanistan, and I recieved packages from your organization. The thought that there are people out there willing to do such things for us is amazing, and I’m proud of the American Jewish community for banding together for such worthy causes. On behalf of the Jewish Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines, and Civilians of Afghanistan, Thank you.
