am wondering if anybody has this information:  How many Jewish women are in the military and Who is the currently highest ranking Jewish woman.  I am active in a Jewish charitable organization and would like to have an event homnoring these women but need some concrete figures.  My daughter is a Lieutenant stationed in Germany.  Thanks for any info.

I don’t have the information you’re looking for, but I’m curious where in Germany is your daughter stationed? I’m a soon to be Jewish Chaplain and I’m very likely going to be stationed at Ramstein Air Base, Germany this summer.

she is in Kaiserslautern.  Am wondering if you have any idea what the Jewish troops (those deployed and those in the US) need in a Jewish way.  I mean are they disenfranchised, not connected to other Jewish soldiers? Any thoughts!

Kaiserslautern is the town around Ramstein Air Base. I hope to meet her when I get there. I don’t know what their needs are since I’ve never been there. My needs when I was active duty (I took a break to come to Yeshiva) as a baa’ teshuva in Minot ND would be different than another Jew’s needs in another location. Each base has, or should have, a Jewish Chaplain or a Lay Leader. He or she can more accurately describe the needs of Jews at their particular installation. If you look on this website under ‘base listings’ and select Germany and then Ramstein AB you can see the contact info for the current Jewish Chaplain there.

thanks.  I know the lay leader, COL Holly Doyne.  I will ask her what the Jewish community can do for the soldiers, but i still want to know how many Jewish women are in the military and the highest ranking Jewish female soldier, Candice.

Why not contact the rabbi at the Naval Academy?  She’s one female member :-) and maybe she will have some info on what you’re looking for.  I don’t have a direct number for her, but the main number for the Academy’s Chaplain office is 410-293-1100 .
